Vibroacoustic Therapy, a combination of music and low frequency sound vibration, has been used and refined for decades in the treatment and relief of various health and stress related ailments. Though music and sound have been used since ancient times for its healing properties, the scientific and medical community has recently been taking notice to its powerful effects. In fact, since 1995 The National Institutes of Health has run the most extensive program in the US utilizing vibroacoustic therapies for reduction of pain and symptoms. Treating over 50,000 patients a year for a variety of issues like post-op recovery, anxiety, parkinsons, and chronic pain.I’m excited to now make available at the Mattapoisett Wellness Center, a vibroacoustic recliner! Truly an experience to be had, you will be vibrated into total relaxation laying on soft memory foam with powerful little speakers built in. Listening to carefully and meticulously composed sound healing music over headphones, the binaural beats embedded in it entrain the brain and body into a relaxed state where healing and restoration can happen, much like deep sleep or meditation. It’s like a full body massage at the cellular level! The deep relaxation and peace of mind people experience after a session is quite profound. A variety of music is available for issues like depression, anxiety, mental and emotional stress, physical pain and muscular tension. The most important aspect of this treatment is the release of stress. When you consider 90% of our labeled dis-eases are stress related the understanding arises that we must engage in stress relieving activities!
Using the recliner has been proven to:
-Reduce blood pressure and oxygen consumption
-Slow the heart rate and respiration
-Relax the muscles
-Reduce pain and stiffness
-Increase circulation
-Promote peace of mind and emotional ease
-and of course aid in any stress related conditions
Although an excellent stand alone treatment, vibroacoustic therapy is an amazing adjunct to all the other amazing healing modalities we offer at the center and can enhance their therapeutic value.
