Movement as a Privilege

Movement as a Priviledge

In this workshop, we will use natural, practical, and playful movement to gain a better understanding of the efficiency and function of the human body. A range of attributes and physical culture concepts will be demonstrated and practiced via led sections and interactive drills with classmates. What I hope is learned is that the human body is wildly adaptable and benefits greatly from partner work and play, that such activity is enjoyable on many levels, and above all, that movement is a privilege, not a chore. I have used the information on range conditioning, natural movement, and enjoyable challenges in my own practice and with my students for many years. There is no way I can overstate what this practice has done for me and my students over the years.

About the Teacher:

Dan has been a fitness professional for more than 15 years on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  He is known for his broad spectrum, outside the box approach that blends information from many disciplines.  Sports in high school led him to the classic Western strength and conditioning.  This led to hard style martial arts like boxing and Krav Maga which led to injuries.  Repair of those injuries led to soft and natural styles.  Yoga, tai chi, capoeira, Ido Portal Method, calisthenics, and parkour all came into play.  His perspective that Movement is a Privilege, not a chore is what is most important.  As a Movement Mentor, he brings a keen eye to progressive and challenging work and has changed the lives of many from general fitness enthusiast into broad spectrum movers.
