Jennifer Risio

Jenn has been cultivating her yoga practice for over 25 years, which began in a Cleveland, Ohio, gym in 1997, where she instantly fell in love! Life’s journey and ebbs and flows brought her to a much-needed yearlong immersion of yoga and mindfulness on a path to truth, self-love, forgiveness, compassion, strength, and peace.

She completed her YTT in 2009 at Grace School of Yoga in Jamestown, RI, with her teacher/mentor Judy Mclaine studying the teachings of Sri Dharma Mittra. Her roots as a teacher began in Newport, RI, teaching Power Vinyasa, Restorative, and Vinyasa Flow.  Her Vinyasa flow style is an eclectic fusion of so many teachers she has studied with over the years, to honor some: Sri Dharma Mittra, Shiva Rae, Rodney Yee, Colleen Saidman, Elena Brower, Sean Corne, Wade Morrisette, MC YOGI, Kathryn Budig, Janet Stone, Jason Crandall and many more.

Jenn continues to be captivated by the inner peace and love she experiences as a teacher and in her own personal practice. Teaching is her lifelong passion! Her classes are creative and fun. She guides students to find grace and stillness, strength and agility while igniting breath and movement as one. She believes yoga should encircle freedom, grace, and laughter on and off the mat. Jennifer’s classes encompass a powerful flow, emphasizing strength and lightness, allowing the mind to relax and the heart to shine!

In addition, Jenn is the owner of The Studio in Mattapoisett, MA. She is a Reiki Master Teacher (RMT) whose energy healing is sprinkled into ALL her classes! Lindsay Williams

Movement has always been my portal into my inner experience, and in my search for deeper learning, I began my first Yoga Teacher Training in 2012 with Michelle Fleming at Sanctuary Studios in Plymouth, MA. The clarity and wisdom held within my 200-hour certification led me to deeper studies, and I continued to delve more deeply through the completion of the 500-Hour Transformational Yoga Program. My continued studies have included incredible teachings from Leslie Kaminoff, Tom Myers, Jennifer Yarro, Carolyn Cohen, Yaron Gal Carmel, Chip Hartranft, Daniel Orlansky, Dunya McPherson, Jessica Webb, and many other skilled teachers of various healing arts. So far I have gathered around 675 hours of study and formal training, and continue to seek out knowledge about healing modalities, meditation, Nutritious Movement, and traditional and innovative methods of embodiment. I have trained in Therapeutic Touch, Myofascial Release, Traditional Thai Massage, and Reiki, and I strive to bring a fully holistic perspective into my guidance of movement.

I am deeply devoted to being of service to my authentic life, my local and global community, and everyone on a path of self-discovery and healing. I believe that the more we can cultivate compassion and authenticity in our lives, the more we can live joyfully and bring joy to others.
