Join Justin Perreault for the 5th and final installment in a series of five special events. This workshop will focus on the element of Water as it pertains to the Five Element Theory system of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Five Elements Theory of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water creates a framework with which we can balance our approach to health, habits, dietary choices, seasonal change, and life goals/intentions, to keep with the flow and cycles of nature.
The Water Element is associated with the bladder and kidney organs in the body and is the element directly linked to winter. Strength, depth, willpower, energy, and resolve are all emotions directly connected to the bladder and kidneys. Experiential in design, the class will have lecture as well as active practice in Qigong exercises that heal and strengthen the Bladder, Kidney and Qi.
We will go over the basic function of the Bladder/Kidney in TCM theory. Learn to find and stimulate specific Acupoints to foster the intention of journeying inward and getting back to essence of your innermost being. Discuss dietary/lifestyle recommendations to address imbalance of the Water element, while enjoying an herbal tea specifically for bladder and kidney health. How to work with the winter season to avoid disharmony while making the best use of these freezing cold temperatures. All of this will culminate into a knowledge that will help you develop a keen sense of your body and its needs through the changing seasons.
Drop-ins are welcome. This three-hour in-depth session is $35 in advance and $40 on the day of the class. The times are from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
