Fascia and Massage Therapy

Research has shown time and again that massage therapy can decrease our stress and anxiety.  However, what about that deep aching pain in muscle?  We know that myo-fascial (myo meaning muscle) pain is caused by a continuous stimulus such as pressure, repetitive moment and poor posture.   The symptoms can also be pain that persists and worsens without direct treatment, trigger points “knots” in our muscle can also be pain inducing.  Myo-fascial release massage is mild and can allow the tissue to release for long term results.  This type of massage has been known to reduce that deep ache and be a great source of pain management.

Every time you move your body it works as a whole system, in harmony with all your muscles and fascia.  What is fascia?  Fascia is connective tissue that extends throughout our entire body.  No beginning and no end, extending from the front of your forehead to the very bottom of your toes, every organ, muscle and tissue is encompassed by this amazing connective tissue.  Various therapies directly or indirectly affect the relationship between muscle and fascia, every time you receive massage therapy, you are touching muscle and fascia.

Finding the root cause of pain in our bodies can be very challenging even for the most seasoned professional.  As the client/patient, you want the pain to go away and you’re willing to do anything to get rid of it.  Your health history and past experiences are key in guiding the correct treatment for your pain.
